ChildSafeNet sponsors community-based "Adults Only" and "Kids Only" child/teen safety programs to audiences in Fairfax County, Virginia as a public service on an ongoing basis.

Committed to the belief that an alert, aware and informed community is essential to assuring the best protection possible for kids, ChildSafeNet sponsors programs that are offered as a public service to groups in Fairfax County, including private citizens, the business and corporate communities, public employees, schools, churches, civic organizations and other public and private sector audiences.

ChildSafeNet programs contribute to grassroots level public awareness and knowledge by providing expert information on ways to make life, online and in the open community, safer for kids. Presenters include professionals in the field of child protection from the law enforcement and non-profit private sector organization (see Partners in Community Education below). From this website we also link you to materials, information and advice from a variety of other premier child protection organizations.

The goal of every ChildSafeNet - sponsored program is to arm and empower citizens with the knowledge, skills and resources needed to keep kids as safe as possible, and to provide information about where to turn for assistance should the need ever arise. Topics include:

  • Protecting Children Against Sex Offenders -The P’CASO Partnership Program
  • Staying Safe Online – Safety Rules for the Internet Age (“Adults Only” and “Kids Only” programs)
  • The Sex Offender Registry – “What Is It?  How Does It Work?”
  • Empowering Kids - Resisting Aggression Defensively – the r.a.d.KIDS Program (“Adults Only” and “Kids Only” segments)
  • What Your Kids Are Saying to Us - Perspectives, PRE-ACT, Inc. (Prevention Education for Adults, Children and Teens)
  • Everyday/Everywhere Safety - Staying Safe in the Open Community
  • Recognizing and Responding to the Signs of Child Abuse
  • The S.A.F.E. Program for Women and Teenage Girls (FCPD)
  • Make Your Community Safer for Kids – Child Safety and the Role of Neighborhood Watch (FCPD)
  • The Important of Home Security Measures - Safety Begins at Home
The Role, Value and Importance of Background Checks

Because of the importance of the subject matter addressed in ChildSafeNet-sponsored programs, many organizations partner with other groups in order to serve larger audiences. Programs range from one to two hours in length. Requests should be made at least 60 days in advance. Modest speaker fees are applicable for some programs.

Partners in community education: ChildSafeNet works to access existing expertise in the community and deliver it at the grassroots community and neighborhood levels. We want to thank those who work with us in that effort: the Fairfax County Police, the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, the staff and volunteers from Childhelp USA/Virginia Children’s Center, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the Child Welfare League of America, the NetSmartz Workshop, PRE-ACT, Inc., United States Homeland Investigations, Inc. and others who make their professional knowledge and experience available because they share our goal of making the community safer for kids.
