Cyber Safety Training of Trainers

ChildSafeNet conducted a four-day training of trainers (ToT) on cyber safety for children and young people from 23 to 26 January 2020 in Lalitpur, Nepal. The ToT was conducted as a part of the Safer Internet Day 2020 programme in Nepal. It was the third batch of ToT conducted by ChildSafeNet.

Twenty participants from different parts of the country attended the ToT. ChildSafeNet equipped them with the up-to-date knowledge technical aspects of the internet, benefits of the internet, online risks and threats to children and protection measures. The interactive ToT workshop used lectures, presentations, videos, group discussions, quiz, role plays and sharing of experiences. Participants were provided theoretical knowledge on conducting training. They had also participated in practice training sessions.

Besides ChildSafeNet’s in-house trainers, external subject matter experts conducted thematic sessions. Pradin Tamrakar, a police officer from Nepal Police Central Cyber Bureau conducted a session on reporting and investigation of cyber crimes. Similarly, Ram Mani Gautam, a legal expert on cyber crimes, affiliated with the Centre for Legal Research and Resource Development (CeLRRd) conducted a session on legal framework on protecting children online. Likewise, the manager of Child Helpline 1098, Sagar Bhandari made a presentation on the modus operandi of the Child Helpline in Nepal. Moreover, Mona Nyachhyon, CEO of LogPoint Nepal, a cyber security company talked about the cyber security risks, threats and protection measures.

The ToT was conducted in collaboration with Digital Broadcast Initiative Equal Access and Red Circle Creative Solutions.
